Pre-Ride Safety Checks: Getting Your Pure Scooter Ready to Ride

Updated this week

Before every ride, it’s important to take a few minutes to check that your scooter is safe, secure, and performing at its best. These quick steps help you ride safely, avoid avoidable damage, and keep your warranty valid.

1. 🔧 Check The Stem And Folding Mechanism

  • Ensure the stem locking lever or folding catch is fully secured and there’s no movement or wobble in the handlebars or stem.

  • If your scooter has a stem bolt, make sure it’s tightened but not over-tightened, it should feel solid with no play when you rock the handlebars forward and back.

  • If you notice looseness, do not ride until adjusted. Refer to your user manual or contact our support team for guidance.

2. ⚙️ Brakes And Cables

  • Squeeze both brake levers to ensure they engage smoothly and release properly.

  • Check that brake cables are securely attached, not frayed, and not rubbing against the wheel or frame.

  • If your scooter uses a drum or disc brake, ensure there’s no grinding or excessive squeaking.

3. 🛞 Tyres And Pressure

  • Inspect your tyres for cuts, punctures, or significant wear.

  • Maintain a pressure of around 36 PSI (2.5 bar) for most Pure scooters check your model’s recommended pressure on the sidewall or in the user manual.

  • Proper tyre pressure improves range, comfort, and grip, and helps prevent motor cable wrapping or rim damage.

4. 🔋 Battery And Power

  • Make sure your scooter is fully charged before setting off.

  • Inspect the charging port and cable for any dirt, debris, or damage, never force the charger if it doesn’t fit smoothly.

  • Avoid riding immediately after charging if the scooter or charger feels warm.

5. 💡 Lights, Reflectors & Display

  • Turn on your lights and ensure front and rear lights are working.

  • Check reflectors are secure and not cracked.

  • Make sure the display powers on and shows no error codes before riding.

6. 🧍‍♂️ Quick Rider Safety Check

  • Wear a helmet and suitable footwear.

  • Avoid loose clothing that might catch on moving parts.

  • Double-check your surroundings before setting off.

7. ⚠️ If Something Doesn’t Feel Right

If you notice any odd noises, looseness or reduced braking, stop riding immediately and contact our Customer Support team for advice before continuing.
